WHY LEARNING OUTSIDE THE BOX?
Learning Outside the Box begins with the premise that student learning and retention are best when instruction is content rich, engaging, relevant. For "Geography: Live Online!" that means a focus not just on geography facts but on the links between geography and students' lives -- where our clothes and food come from (and why), how geography influences weather (and why), what we can learn about geography from our junk mail, our sports teams, earthquakes and architecture... -- with an emphasis on images and in-class activities to reinforce learning. All of Learning Outside the Box's classes pair meaningful content with thoughtful assignments that promote exploration, critical thinking, and the acquisition of knowledge. FOR THE FREE GEOGRAPHY SCAVENGER HUNT Just fill out the request below, and I will send you a link to the scavenger hunt. Like "Geography: Live Online!" the scavenger hunt is best suited for 5th-9th graders capable of independent online research.
