I am thrilled to be able to return to in-person teaching!

A few points to consider when signing up for my in-person classes, including “Hands-On Geography,” "Poetry Playoffs," "Academic Writing," and “Mission Possible: Global Issues, Leadership Choices”:

  • Although I am keeping classes smaller than usual for the time being, social distancing is impossible.  Students in “Hands-On Geography” will be sitting on the floor with me gathered around oversized maps.  Students in “Mission Possible” are frequently in close meetings with each other in the course of in-class negotiations.  Students in "Poetry Playoffs" discuss poetry sitting in my living room while sharing tea and cookies, and students in "Academic Writing" are usually gathered around my dining room table.

  • Hand sanitizer is available whenever requested.  But do expect that students will be sharing materials for various in-class activities (e.g., coins, stamps, game tokens) as well as food items.

  • Beginning in Spring 2023, my in-person classes will be mask optional.  (Please note: because social distancing is impossible, it is possible students may be required to wear masks in class if a new variant again produces high rates of community transmission.)  I hope that those families and students who prefer masking indoors will still feel comfortable doing so.

I want students to have as normal and successful an experience as possible in my classes.  But I also want parents to understand what I think this will look like when completing their registrations.  Learning is most effective when it is fun and comfortable.

I understand and agree to these policies for in-person instruction.
